Insurance Alarms
The more secure your home is, there is less chance you could be an unfortunate victim
of a burglary. But installing a home security alarm system may have other benefits
as they could lower your insurance premiums also. If you install a good quality
alarm system to your property as well as fixing deadbolts to the
doors and window alarms
to the windows you may be surprised how this will have an effect on your insurance
premium. Insurance companies favour the homeowner taking security measures to protect
his property.
Consider overhauling the fencing that surrounds your property. This too can have
a positive effect on your premiums as it helps improve your exterior security. High
fencing is obviously not only difficult to see over but is also difficult for the
burglar to climb over. This will affect a burglar’s strategy to quickly get both
in and out of your property. He will want to make a quick getaway from a property
if he were to get disturbed.
Installing a
fire alarm
presents another opportunity of cutting the cost of your insurance. Every home should
have a fire alarm as it could not only save you and your families lives, but could
lower insurance costs. Your home is much safer with a fire alarm as it will provide
a first line of defence in the unfortunate event of a fire breaking out in your
home. With an early warning from a fire alarm you may be able to deal with a small
fire and thus prevent extensive damage to your home. Some modern fire alarm systems
provide a monitoring facility to automatically contact a monitoring company who
can send help as soon as it is needed.
Make enquiries as to whether your neighorhood has a
neighborhood watch scheme
in place and if it has you should consider becoming a member. Living within a neighborhood
watch scheme is a safer area in live as this will deter burglars. This again could
bring the cost of your premiums down. If there is not a neighborhood watch scheme
in your area maybe you should consider starting one up.
Be aware that some insurance companies demand that either a burglar alarm system
and/or smoke alarm be installed as part of your policy. This is a good thing as
your policy will generally be lower than it would if you had gone to an insurance
company that did not require these security and safety measures to be installed.
